SPC Awarded Classic Project Prize
On December 27, 2011, No. 2 Polyester Plant of SPC (formerly the Shanghai Petrochemical Complex), the only of its kind in the domestic petrochemical counterparts, was appraised as the classic project at a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of National Quality Project Prize.
No. 2 Polyester Plant, one of the key projects during the implementation of the 6th National Five-year Plan, was constructed from July 1980, with the total investment up to RMB846 million. The whole project, involving the devices of 225.000-ton PTA/year, 200,000-ton polyester/year, 90,000-ton polyester staple fiber/year and 5,000-ton polyester wool top/year, won the Gold Prize of National Quality Project in 1990.
The National Quality Project Prize was set up in 1981 as a state-level honorable award characterized by the longest history and the highest level in the project construction industry as well as the multi-industry attribute. A total of 1,577 national quality projects have come out over the past 30 years. No. 2 Polyester Plant was among the 23 best-appraised classic projects at the 30th anniversary ceremony of the National Quality Project Prize.
